Percent composition of bacterial families in eggshell communities from eggs that were either dissected from S. virgatus females or oviposited. Communities were sampled immediately after egg acquisition and on Day 25 of incubation in soil slurry. Each vertical bar represents a different eggshell; labels are identification numbers for the female which provided the egg. Colored portions of the bars represent the relative abundance of the top ten most abundant taxa; the remaining taxa were combined into the “other” category. The y-axis indicates the percent composition of total reads for that sample
