Analysis of adrenergic receptor gene expression in blood leukocytes of suckling calves (control), suckling calves separated from their dams (Weaned), and weaned and transported (Weaned + Transport) calves. Gene expression was quantified with RT-PCR and data are expressed as fold change relative to Day 0 (prior to weaning). Gene expression was analyzed for 6 alpha- and 3 beta-adrenergic receptors (ADR) and data presented are for those ADR genes where significant differences were observed when using a one-way ANOVA to compare Weaned (n = 10) and Weaned + Transport groups (n = 10) to time-matched samples from the control group (n = 10). Data presented are the mean and 1 SD *p < 0.05; **p < 0.01
