Note that wild whitespotted eagle rays harbor different microbial communities than aquarium whitespotted eagle rays, and both aquarium and wild whitespotted eagle rays harbor microbial communities that differ from the surrounding water for all body sites. Interestingly, cloaca samples show higher overlap, suggesting higher similarities compared to more external body sites (gill and skin)
